Top 9 Utica Shale Ohio Oil Producers, Q4 2014.

Nine Utica Shale Ohio wells topped 25,000 barrels of oil production during Q4 2014.

Three of wells reside in Carroll County, three in Guernsey County, two in Harrison County and one in Noble County.

American Energy is the owner of four of the top nine oil producers, followed by Chesapeake with three and Antero Resources and Rex Energy with one each.

Top 7 Utica Shale Ohio Gas Producers in Q4 2014

Seven Utica Shale Ohio wells exceeded 1,000,000 Cubic Feet of natural gas production during Q4 2014. Four of the wells reside in Monroe County and three in Belmont County.

Rice Drilling operates three of the top seven natural gas producers and Eclipse Resources and Antero Resources each operate two of seven.

Q4 2014 Utica Shale Ohio Production by Operators and Counties

The new release of Ohio Utica Shale Production data shows the following production numbers by owner/operators and counties.

Owners

1. Chesapeake Exploration leads all in in both total oil and total gas production in the quarter
2. Chesapeake alone is producing nearly 50% of all oil from the Utica Shale, accounting for 49.6% of the total production in the quarter, and 40.9% of all gas production.
3. Gulfport Energy comes in 2nd in gas production.
4. Antero Resources comes 2nd in oil production, followed by Gulfport Energy.
5. American Energy comes in 4th place in total oil production for the quarter
6. Antero Resources is 3rd in gas production, followed by Eclipse Resources.

Counties

1. Carroll leads all counties in both oil and gas production.
2. Carroll county is trailed closely by Harrison County in oil production and Belmont County in gas production.
3. Guernsey county comes in 3rd place in oil production followed by Noble County in 4th place
4. Monroe County comes in 3rd in gas production  followed by Harrison County
5. Carroll and Harrison Counties combine for 2/3 or 66.4% of all oil production in the quarter. 

New Utica Shale Ohio Leases, Week of Feb 8, 2015

18 new leases were issued in the Ohio Utica Shale for the week of Feb 8-14, 2015 according to the recent report from the Ohio DNR.

CNX Gas- 5 new leases in Monroe County
Hilcorp Energy - 1 new lease in Columbiana County
Gulfport Energy - 1 new lease in Belmont County
Chesapeake - 5 new leases in Carroll County, 5 in Harrison County, and 1 in Belmont County.

Ohio Utica Shale - Activity Remains Relatively High

While operators look to increasingly focus on the most economic areas in the Ohio Utica Shale, and cutting capital investment projections, activity is still strong historically. Depressed Oil and Gas spot prices lead to increasingly tight economics, or worse, for some wells, though activity is still high in relative terms.

The two graphs below, snapshots six months apart, show permitted wells remaining healthy and drilling up. Wells classified as "drilling" and "drilled" indicate that "producing" wells should about double from August 2014 to August 2015. And with 72 new permits issued from Jan 1, 2015 through Feb  7, 2015, in 10 different Ohio counties, there is ample evidence pointing to relatively high activity to continue.
